Plastic-Free Hackney are looking for volunteers to help spread awareness and take a more active role in helping to convince local authorities, businesses and community groups to cut down on single-use plastic. Our volunteer roles include community outreach officers, events organisers, fundraisers, and core team members.
Plastic-Free Hackney Current Roles:
The role of our outreach team is to communicate ways of reducing single-use items within the community. There are over 14,000 businesses and organisations within the Hackney borough (one of the largest in London), and with just 27% of our waste recycled, a task-force is needed to convince companies to obtain more sustainable practices. This role is really flexible with timings, if you find yourself with free hours during the day and would like to get involved, this role is perfect for you!
Plastic-Free Hackney is looking for a part-time events organiser (2 hours per week) to aid in the coordination of our monthly litter-picks. Working directly with community groups, schools and places of worship, the goal of our events organiser is to set a consistent presence at some of the many popular events that take place within Hackney.
